Rancid

Rancid is an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California formed in 1991. Founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, both of whom previously played in the influential ska punk band Operation Ivy. Rancid is credited along with The Offspring and Green Day with helping to revive mainstream popular interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Unlike the other bands mentioned above, however, Rancid remained signed to an independent label and continued to play much more classic sounding and political music, most of which was connected to their underground roots. Rancid's songs reflect their strong left-wing political views, their near-religious disliking of major record labels, and discontent with punk elitism.

No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California that formed in 1986. The ska-pop sound of their first album, No Doubt (1992), failed to make waves. The band's diamond-certified album Tragic Kingdom helped to launch the ska revival of the 1990s, and "Don't Speak", the third single from the album, set a record when it spent sixteen weeks at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart.
